Industries Applications

Manufacturing and supply chain management

  • WIP & inventory management: Aviation, Automotive and Semi-conductor industries are major industries for RFID WIP tracking applications. Especially in the hybrid production lines environments, using RFID can increase the visibility of shop floor and provide more real-time data.

  • Carrier management: Because many types of the carriers (Pallet; Plastic tote and container) can not be managed efficiently, using RFID can display the real-time location and increase usage of carriers.

  • Production utilities management: Production utilities (forklift, production machine) are often hard to use efficiently, thus collecting the real-time data of them can reduce the bottleneck and speed up the inventory rotation rate.

  • Exception Handling: Traditionally GPS can monitor the exception case very efficiently, but installation cost is too high & the result of in-door positioning can’t be accepted. Currently RTLS system provides this function.

Suggested Application Technology:

  • 13.56MHz Passive RFID
  • UHF Passive RFID

Asset Management & Real Time Location System (RTLS)

  • Valuable Asset Management: Construction, Mining and Healthcare are major industries for active RFID/RTLS applications. By using active RFID/RTLS applications enterprise can improve utilization of valuable assets and increase job or patients safety.

  • People Tracking: Elders, Children, Patients and Hospital staffs are commonly required to be tracked by real time base. Those people will need to carry out RFID wristband or ID card .By using location software the management system can track movement of tracking people in real time base.

Suggested Application Technology:

  • 433MHz Active RFID
  • 2.45GHz ZigBee / Wi-Fi Tag
  • 6GHz UWB

Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) & DSRC

  • AVI: Airports, Ports and Military campus are major places for using passive UHF RFID AVI applications. By using EPC windshield tag in the vehicle security department can reduce time to identify visitors and vehicles and improve security checking levels.

  • Electronic Toll collection (ETC) system: The traditional MTC (Manual Toll Collection) system can not meet modern Toll Collection requirements. There are two major standards now -915MHz band ETC in North America and 5.8GHz band ETC in North Asia and Europe. Promotion by the U.S. next generation 5.9GHz 802.11p WAVE standards in 2012.The 5.8/5.9GHz DSRC standard will become the global standard for ETC applications.

Suggested Application Technology:

  • UHF passive RFID (Driving speed around 20~40 km/hr)
  • 5.8/5.9GHz DSRC (Driving speed around 50~120 km/hr)
